Soccer Game Preview: Dominguez vs. Norwalk

The Dominguez Dons will head out to face off against the Norwalk Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dominguez's defense has only allowed 0.2 goals per game this season, so Norwalk's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Dominguez is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering La Mirada just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. Neither they nor the Matadores could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. There's a chance things could've gone differently had the Dons not been charged with a red card from Victor Chalchi.

Norwalk's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Gahr on Tuesday. Norwalk never let Mayfair onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Monsoons are ranked 917th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Norwalk pushed their record up to 6-2-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three contests. With that draw, Dominguez's record moves to 7-0-1.

Dominguez beat Norwalk by a goal when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 3-2. Will Dominguez repeat their success, or does Norwalk have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
