Baseball Recap: Midlothian Heritage Now 14-1 over Last 15 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Midlothian Heritage walked away with it. They blew past the University Trojans 8-2 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Alex Miner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Huber, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Carter Rutenbar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Midlothian Heritage hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Midlothian Heritage has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for University, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-11.

Midlothian Heritage will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
