Volleyball Recap: Long Reach Extends Winning Streak to Three

Long Reach had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Oakland Mills Scorpions. The Lightning have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Scorpions, too.

The win didn't come easy: Oakland Mills scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-22, 28-26.

Machela Weaver paced Long Reach's offense, picking up seven kills. Weaver got some help from London Clay and her eight assists. Weaver was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Long Reach's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Oakland Mills, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Long Reach will challenge Severna Park at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakland Mills, they will be playing at home against Chesapeake at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
