Basketball Game Preview: Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines vs. Dodge County Indians

The Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines will take on the Dodge County Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodville-Tompkins will be strutting in after a win while Dodge County will be coming in after a defeat.

Woodville-Tompkins is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Ridgeland Secondary Academy Of Excellence: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Wolverines blew the Jaguars out of the water with a 57-21 final score. The Wolverines' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cassidy Freeman produced another solid effort shooting 47% from the field to rack up 21 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The game was her fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Trinity Morris, who posted six points along with nine steals and five rebounds.

Woodville-Tompkins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Dodge County suffered their biggest loss since February 8th last Monday. They took a blow against Coffee, falling 69-25. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dodge County now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Woodville-Tompkins, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Woodville-Tompkins beat Dodge County 48-36 in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
