Sprague unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Salem Saxons on Thursday. The Olympians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saxons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in June of 2024.

While Sprague ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17.

Connor Wolfgram was nothing short of spectacular for South Salem: he had 42 assists and eight digs. That's the most assists Wolfgram has posted over his last five games. Mason Leeper also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.
