Baseball Recap: Community Health Academy Takes a Loss

Community Health Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington Heights Expeditionary. If Community Health Academy was looking for revenge after losing 15-5 to Washington Heights Expeditionary when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Community Health Academy got a good showing from Jose Flores, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Flores has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alex Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Chris Reynoso, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Community Health Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Washington Heights Expeditionary, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

When Community Health Academy and Washington Heights Expeditionary next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Community Health Academy will face off against Math Science & Engineering and their three-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Washington Heights Expeditionary will try to stop Douglass Academy's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on the 9th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Washington Heights Expeditionary 2.7, Douglass Academy 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
