Basketball Game Preview: Ingalls Bulldogs vs. Hodgeman County Longhorns

Ingalls hasn't had much luck against Hodgeman County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Ingalls Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Hodgeman County Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ingalls is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were beaten by Spearville 63-23. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Lancers are ranked 113th).

Meanwhile, Hodgeman County came up short against Kiowa County on Tuesday and fell 46-36. While the Longhorns didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mavericks 11-4 in the first quarter.

Ingalls will have to keep a close watch on Ian Reece and Hazen Rydquist, a pair of players who had a big impact on Hodgeman County's prior game. Reece went 6-for-12 to rack up 13 points and four steals, while Rydquist posted 13 points and five assists. Reece has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Ingalls' defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Hodgeman County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Ingalls was dealt a bruising 66-27 defeat at the hands of Hodgeman County in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Ingalls, Owen Reece (who went 9-for-20 en route to 26 points along with six steals and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
