Soccer Game Preview: Denbigh vs. York

Denbigh is 0-4 against York since March of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Patriots will face off against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Denbigh has given up an average of 4.3 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Denbigh lost 7-1 to Kecoughtan on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Denbigh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Kecoughtan are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, York's game on Monday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Bruton by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for York in their meetings with Bruton: they've now lost three in a row.

York's goal came courtesy of Payton Schmidt, who's now up to nine this season.

Denbigh's loss dropped their record down to 3-12-1. As for York, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Denbigh suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to York when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
