Volleyball Recap: Karis Blankenship Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Lutheran

After losing to Lutheran the last time they met, Timberland decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The T-Wolves blew past the Cougars 3-0 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the T-Wolves.

Timberland never let Lutheran on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 25-14.

Timberland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karis Blankenship, who had 13 digs and two aces. Those 13 digs gave Blankenship a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Laney Swisher, who had ten digs and two assists.

Despite the loss, Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eliana Sweet had 17 assists and four digs.

Timberland's win bumped their record up to 18-6-1. As for Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 8-13-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Timberland has already played their next matchup (against Parkway West), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lutheran, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Logan-Rogersville on the 10th.
