Volleyball Recap: Westland Comes Up Short

Westland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Franklin Heights Falcons. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Westland sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 26-24, 15-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-13.

Kylie Murphy paced Westland's offense, picking up 14 kills. Murphy got some help from Audrey Alves and her 41 assists. Alves was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Madison Jarrell was nothing short of spectacular for Franklin Heights: she had 45 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Jarrell has posted since back in August.

Westland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Franklin Heights, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Westland has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Dublin Scioto on the 25th. As for Franklin Heights, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Whitehall-Yearling on the 25th.
