Volleyball Game Preview: Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans vs. Seton Catholic Sentinels

The Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Seton Catholic Sentinels at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Gilbert Classical Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Gilbert Classical Academy got the win against BASIS Phoenix by a conclusive 3-0.

While Gilbert Classical Academy might've won, it sure wasn't easy: BASIS Phoenix scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-21.

Gilbert Classical Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Stuckey led the charge by getting five digs and four aces. That's the most digs Stuckey has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of John Vu, who had nine digs.

Stuckey wasn't the only good server: Gilbert Classical Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Seton Catholic came into Thursday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Horizon Honors 3-0 on Thursday.

Seton Catholic's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
