Softball Recap: Kimball Knights vs. Carter Cowboys
Kimball lost against Carter back in February of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Kimball Knights came up short against the Carter Cowboys, falling 17-6.
Ja'Nijae Buchanan and Alissa Talamantes did some serious damage despite the final result: Buchanan scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2, while Talamantes scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Talamantes a new career-high in hits (two). Z'Niyia Dixon was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Kimball's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Carter, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.
Coming up, Kimball will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. As for Carter, they will head out to challenge Pinkston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
