Basketball Recap: Alcuin Comes Up Short

Alcuin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the First Baptist Saints 62-6. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-2.

First Baptist was led to victory by Meredith Quinn and Bella Jacobo-Redding. Quinn went 11 of 19 on her way to 23 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Jacobo-Redding went 7 for 14 en route to 16 points and eight steals. Jacobo-Redding has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Reagan Vowell, who posted six points in addition to nine steals and five boards.

Alcuin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for First Baptist, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-4.

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Alcuin Hawks challenge the Ovilla Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for First Baptist, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cambridge at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season.
