Basketball Recap: KIPP College Prep Takes a Loss

On Thursday, KIPP College Prep faced Friendship Tech Prep Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The KIPP College Prep Panthers were outmatched by the Friendship Tech Prep Academy Titans and fell 91-33. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why KIPP College Prep lost, don't look at Kaden Butler. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Friendship Tech Prep Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhi Polk, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Polk a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Haskins, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards.

KIPP College Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-6.

KIPP College Prep has already played their next match, a 54-34 defeat against Ballou on the 31st. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-65 loss against Christ School on the 1st.
