Basketball Recap: Holmes Huskies vs. Harlan Hawks
Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They took a blow against the Harlan Hawks, falling 101-70. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1025th, while the Hawks are ranked 108th).

Despite the defeat, Holmes saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josiah Corona went 9 for 12 on his way to 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Corona a new career-high in steals. Joseph Ramon was another key player, putting up 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Holmes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Harlan, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Holmes will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Brennan at 10:00 a.m. on December 31st.
