Baseball Recap: New London Takes a Loss

New London was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Monroeville Eagles, falling 14-7. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

New London saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Gum, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Gum has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 1-13 otherwise. Another was Brody Sword, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

New London's record is now 3-14. As for Monroeville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.

Coincidentally, New London and Monroeville will both be playing Crestline the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Bulldogs at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
