Football Game Preview: Marshall Owls vs. Kirksville Tigers

Marshall hasn't had much luck against Kirksville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Owls will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Marshall has given up an average of 32.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marshall is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Mexico on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Owls had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Owls were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kirksville, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They managed a 19-14 win over Moberly on Friday.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Kirksville, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Marshall was taken down by Kirksville 40-0 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Owls, Jace Kent (who rushed for 149 yards and four scores on only 14 carries, and also picked up 50 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
