Basketball Recap: Georgetown Comes Up Short

Georgetown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Aynor Blue Jackets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-36 back in November of 2024.

Aynor was led to victory by Terianna Richardson and Elisha Huffman. Richardson posted 21 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, while Huffman put up 12 points along with eight boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Richardson is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Alivia Hess, who had four points and five steals.

Georgetown's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Aynor, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-12.

While Georgetown had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
