League recap: Northern Heights stuns Osage City in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Osage City, who took down 180th ranked Osage City, 36-14. Mitchell Wecker threw for 17 yards and one touchdown, ran for 67 yards and caught 10 passes for 120 yards in the win.

Trenton Shuler of Mission Valley ran for the longest rushing play in Flint Hills this season against Chase County last week. Shuler's team defeated the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 68 yards on the play and finished with 157 in all.

Luke Larson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Northern Heights bested the Indians. He completed 16 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 67 yards.

Mitch Walters made the biggest impact on defense this week as West Franklin beat Herington. The senior recorded one fumble and grabbed 2.5 sacks.

Tyler Irvin put up the best numbers through the air as Osage City fell to the Wildcats. He finished with a total of eight completions for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Irvin's favorite target this week was JT Lincoln, who caught four passes for 64 yards.

Josh Napper was the most productive running back in the league this week. In seven carries, he ran for 266 yards as the Falcons bested Andrew Gantenbein's team. Emerson Reece also contributed to the rushing game with 102 yards on the ground.

The Railroaders' Hunter Makovec and Ramsey Stramel have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Makovec has thrown for 695 yards this season, while Stramel has 29 catches for 448 yards. Napper from West Franklin leads the league in rushing with 578 yards.

A big matchup in Flint Hills this week will be when Mission Valley takes on Seth Homolka's team. As it stands, Lee Weber's team is in third, while the Falcons are in second.

Greg French's team moved up to 195 from 236 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wildcats were able to make the jump by beating the Indians 36-14.
