Anacostia comes up short despite Nayjah Duvall's strong performance

On Saturday, the Anacostia Indians faced the Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Anacostia fell 61-52 to Friendship Collegiate Academy. Anacostia has struggled against Friendship Collegiate Academy recently, as their match on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Anacostia lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nayjah Duvall. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 34.6% of Anacostia's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of LaNiya Jackson, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Madyson Crawford went supernova for Friendship Collegiate Academy, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Crawford scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was London Gailbraith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Anacostia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-8.
