Basketball Recap: Hearne Takes a Loss

Hearne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt an 80-24 loss at the hands of the Mumford Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1410th, while the Mustangs are ranked 359th).

Hearne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Mumford, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hearne will challenge Somerville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hearne is facing Somerville at the right time seeing as Somerville is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Mumford, they will face off against Iola at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mumford's defense has only allowed 28.3 points per game this season, so Iola's offense will have their work cut out for them.
