Football Recap: Westfield Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Westfield unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 32-14 fall against the King Panthers on Thursday. The Mustangs were down 30-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Kameron Hubbard threw for 56 yards on four of eight attempts. Emmanuel Yancy was his top target, picking up 39 receiving yards. On the ground, Demonte Ford rushed for 66 yards on only seven carries.

King had a senior duo take command as Dionne Sims rushed for 121 yards and two TDs on only 13 carries and Timothy Potts threw for 119 yards and one touchdown. Sims really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westfield is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Fort Bend Hightower at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for King, they will square off against Dickinson at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
