Football Recap: Westfield Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Westfield unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the King Panthers at home by a 32-14 margin on Thursday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

King had a senior duo take command as Dionne Sims rushed for 121 yards and two scores on only 13 carries and Timothy Potts threw for 119 yards and one touchdown. Sims got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 78 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westfield will challenge Fort Bend Hightower at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for King, they will square off against Dickinson at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
