Volleyball Recap: Garey Comes Up Short

Garey managed to slip by Hawthorne Math & Science Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Garey Vikings lost 3-0 to the Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Aviators on Monday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aviators apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

While Garey was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Hawthorne Math & Science Academy's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-12, 34-32.

Garey's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Coming up, Garey will square off against Azusa at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Garey is facing Azusa at the right time seeing as Azusa is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they will take on Geffen Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
