Volleyball Recap: Mathews Comes Up Short

Mathews was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the St. John Fighting Herald. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fighting Herald this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-10, 25-14.

MARLEE RUITER paced Mathews' offense, picking up six kills. RUITER got some help from KAT ROWAN and her nine assists. RILEE PADDOCK controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Mathews' loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for St. John, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mathews is set to take on their familiar foe Pymatuning Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. John will square off against rival Grand Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
