Volleyball Recap: Payson Lions vs. Timpanogos Timberwolves

Payson lost against Timpanogos back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lions fell just short of the Timberwolves by a score of 3-2. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Timberwolves 25-20 in the first set.

Payson took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 17-15.

Waylon Francom paced Payson's offense, picking up 20 kills. Francom got some help from Dillon Houston and his 44 assists. Francom was also a major player on defense: he and Jace Mangum shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with four each.

Payson has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season. As for Timpanogos, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Payson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Mountain View on the 24th. As for Timpanogos, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Hunter on the 25th.
