Football Game Preview: Pope Greyhounds vs. Woodstock Wolverines + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Pope Greyhounds and the Woodstock Wolverines will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pope comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Pope had taken Lassiter down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end last Friday. The Greyhounds were dealt a 49-7 defeat at the hands of the Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Greyhounds have suffered against the Trojans since August 25, 2017.

Meanwhile, Woodstock entered their game against Creekview last Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wolverines fell 28-21 to the Grizzlies.

Pope will have to contain Graham Burmeister as he made an impact in Woodstock's last game. He threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 45 yards.

Pope's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Woodstock, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Pope might still be hurting after the 41-17 defeat they got from Woodstock when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Greyhounds, Isaiah Payton (who rushed for 191 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
