Dora hasn't had much luck against Melrose recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Buffaloes at 6:30 p.m.
Dora managed to slip by Lake Arthur the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Coyotes came up short against the Panthers on Wednesday, falling 3-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
While Dora was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Lake Arthur's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-19, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Melrose faced Elida in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Buffaloes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Tigers. The Buffaloes haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Melrose wouldn't go down easily and took Elida into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-19, 25-17, 24-26, 15-12.
Dora better keep an eye on Zona Hollaway. She was instrumental in Melrose's win, getting seven digs and one assist.
Dora's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Melrose, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Dora suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Melrose in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Coyotes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
