Conifer hasn't had much luck against Evergreen recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Lobos will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 11:00 a.m. Conifer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Conifer came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Pomona by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 23, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Conifer got a good showing from Garrett Plomondon, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Plomondon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Conifer saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mckade Tracy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Another was Luke Adams, who went 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

Evergreen came out on top against Wheat Ridge on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run second inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Farmers with a sharp 14-2 win. Considering the Cougars have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Evergreen got a massive performance out of James Mauro, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kai Kazmer also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Evergreen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheat Ridge only posted an OBP of .367.

Evergreen is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Conifer, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Conifer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Evergreen struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Conifer couldn't quite finish off Evergreen when the teams last played back in April and fell 7-5. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
