Joliet West faced Lockport in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Porters, sneaking past 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Joliet West had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-22, 25-16.

Lexie Grevengoed paced Joliet West's offense, picking up ten kills. Grevengoed got some help from Julia Adams and her 23 assists. Adams was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Joliet West's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Lockport, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-3 record.

Joliet West and Lockport will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Joliet West will take on rival Plainfield North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lockport is set to square off against their familiar foe Stagg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
