Volleyball Recap: Ashley Comes Up Short

Ashley lost against Topsail back in August, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Screaming Eagle came up short against the Pirates, falling 3-0. The Screaming Eagle have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashley might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Topsail: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.

Addyson Barberich paced Ashley's offense, picking up 12 kills. Barberich got some help from Sarah Brannin and her 39 assists. Finally, Marley Burk kept Ashley's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Audrey Johnson was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 18 digs and two assists. That's the most digs she has posted since back in August. Hannah Losey also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Ashley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Topsail, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ashley will square off against rival Laney at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Topsail is set to challenge their familiar foe North Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
