Mundelein posted their closest victory since March 23rd on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Libertyville Wildcats, sneaking past 13-11. 13 seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Taylor Pyke and Sarah Benes did most of the damage at the plate: Pyke fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-5, while Benes fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Benes a new career-high. Casey Vyverman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Mundelein was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Mundelein's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Libertyville, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-4.
