Recap: Middle Park Panthers vs. DSST: Montview Knights
The Middle Park Panthers suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by DSST: Montview on the road and fell 72-44. While losing is never fun, Middle Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while DSST: Montview is ranked 47th).
When it comes to explaining why Middle Park lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joey Gagnon. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Weston Wiedel, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Tara Majok was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds for DSST: Montview. Majok hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Bowen, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Middle Park are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7. As for DSST: Montview, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
Middle Park will be playing in front of their home fans against Forge Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Forge Christian is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for DSST: Montview, they will challenge Fort Lupton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Lupton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
