Football Game Preview: McKenzie vs. Alsea

McKenzie (1 - 5) has a chance to get its first conference win this week when it squares off against Alsea (1 - 4) on Friday at 7:00 PM. Both teams have had a rocky road up to this point (McKenzie has lost five in a row, Alsea four), but at least one team's bad luck is about to end.

McKenzie was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last week as it fell 58 - 52 to Mohawk. Sophomore running back Danny Quirk was good for an admirable four touchdowns, but his efforts couldn't forestall the loss.

As for Alsea, the result of Alsea's last game was disheartening but, based on state rankings, not too surprising. Falls City/Kings Valley Charter delivered Alsea a harsh 58 - 8 loss last week. Alsea unfortunately couldn't repeat the imposing 30-point effort it came up with in its previous game.

Alsea has allowed an average of 47.6 points each game, and McKenzie has allowed an average of 62. Hence, a good defensive effort could be the difference in this matchup.
