Basketball Game Preview: Austin Eagles vs. Salem Lions

The Austin Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Salem Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Austin ended up a good deal behind Indian Creek and lost 58-43. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Salem came up short against Charlestown on Thursday, falling 56-33. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Pirates are ranked 18th).

Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Everything came up roses for Austin against Salem when the teams last played back in January of 2025, as the squad secured a 67-24 victory. In that matchup, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 47-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
