Recap: Hollywood Hills Spartans vs. South Broward Bulldogs
The Hollywood Hills Spartans pushed their score all the way to 31 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 61-31 loss at the hands of South Broward. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hollywood Hills in their matchups with South Broward: they've now lost five in a row.
South Broward's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Wheatley-humphrey, who rushed for 263 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. Wheatley-humphrey was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Phillips, who threw for 515 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
South Broward's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Richardson Toussaint and Charles Ross who racked up five sacks between them.
Hollywood Hills now has a losing record at 4-5. As for South Broward, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollywood Hills will take on Northeast at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 30. As for South Broward, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Miramar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Miramar is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
