Softball Recap: West Jessamine Wins Going Away Against Pulaski County

West Jessamine hadn't done well against Pulaski County recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Colts blew past the Maroons 13-6. With that win, the Colts brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Michaela Tate made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Tate was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abigail Myszak was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Vahle, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.

West Jessamine hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

West Jessamine now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Pulaski County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, West Jessamine will be playing in front of their home fans against Collins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.64 runs per game on average), something the Colts will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pulaski County, they will head out to face off against Greenwood at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Gators will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Maroons surely won't give up without a fight.
