Basketball Recap: Perry County Falls Despite Big Games from Colton Pevahouse and Jake Mercer

Perry County came up into this matchup off a tough 27-point loss last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lincoln County Falcons by a score of 62-59 on Monday. The Vikings' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it ten in a row.

Perry County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jake Mercer, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Colton Pevahouse, who posted 17 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Warren, who had eight points.

Perry County's record now sits at 2-10. As for Lincoln County, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Perry County will host Houston County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Houston County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. As for Lincoln County, they will head out to take on Giles County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Giles County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Lincoln County likes a good challenge.
