Basketball Game Preview: Nebraska City Pioneers vs. Standing Bear Grizzlies

The Nebraska City Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Standing Bear Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nebraska City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Standing Bear likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Nebraska City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 64-59 to Gross Catholic. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caleb Walker, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Earll, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Standing Bear came up short against Plattsmouth on Friday and fell 65-54.

Standing Bear's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Nebraska City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.
