St. Joseph came out on top against Mainland Regional on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run second inning. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 12-0 shutout. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Genevieve Muhaw was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Alaina Dorsey was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
St. Joseph pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Egg Harbor Township, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Egg Harbor Township beat St. Joseph 8-4 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
