Recap: Richton Rebels vs. Petal Panthers
The Richton Rebels were the 52-43 winner over the Petal Panthers when they last played one another back in November of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. Richton fell 44-36 to Petal on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Richton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Petal is ranked 103rd).
Despite the loss, Richton saw an underclassman step up: Nylah Robins scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Robins scored a full 55.6% of Richton's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Richton now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Petal, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richton will square off against East Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Petal, they will head out on the road to face off against Tylertown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tylertown is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
