Baseball Recap: The Bay School Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for The Bay School, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Lower Lake Trojans on Saturday. The Breakers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Ansel Hermanos made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Hermanos wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Lee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The Bay School pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lower Lake, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, The Bay School is taking a road trip to challenge Healdsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lower Lake, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Fort Bragg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bragg's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Lower Lake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
