Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Northwest Rankin

Northwest Rankin entered their tilt with Clinton on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Arrows by a score of 6-1. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Arrows, too.

Jackson Meehan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Meehan was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nelson Barthel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameron Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Northwest Rankin's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Clinton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Rankin will be taking part in a tournament against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clinton, they will take on Petal in a tournament on Friday.
