Softball Recap: Jacobs' Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Jacobs took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Antioch, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sequoits on Monday, sneaking past 4-3. For the Golden Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 15-0 victory the Sequoits walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Taylor Schweet looked comfortable as she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avarie Lohrmann, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Audrey Wetzel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Jacobs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jacobs' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-16. As for Antioch, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacobs will face off against Mundelein at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
