Volleyball Recap: Rio Americano Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rio Americano entered their tilt with Laguna Creek on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 3-1. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-16, 19-25, 25-20.

Rio Americano found their leader in sophomore Emma Simmons, who had 17 digs and two aces. Those 17 digs set a new season-high mark for Simmons.

Rio Americano was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matchups.

Rio Americano's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Laguna Creek, they moved to 6-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-match winning streak.

Rio Americano didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Ponderosa on the 24th. As for Laguna Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Franklin on the 23rd.
