Soccer Game Preview: Starr's Mill vs. Pace Academy

The Starr's Mill Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Pace Academy Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pace Academy will be up against a hot Starr's Mill squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Starr's Mill blew past Harris County 4-1 on Tuesday. The Panthers' winning goal came courtesy of Olivia Shaw.

Starr's Mill used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Harris County. Livie Davison played for 80 minutes having averaged 56.9 this season and Shaw got 80 vs. an average of 45.1. Shaw made the most of the opportunity, scoring two goals and one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Pace Academy made sure to put some goals up on the board against Forest Park on Wednesday. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Panthers are ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Starr's Mill's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Pace Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
