Brother Rice faced Marist in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Crusaders fell 2-0 to the RedHawks. The Crusaders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Brother Rice was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17.

Loss or not, Brother Rice got some senior leadership from Matthew Phelan and Ryne Collins. Phelan had 20 assists and three digs, while Collins had 11 digs. Phelan is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 20 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Brother Rice's defeat dropped their record down to 28-7. As for Marist, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 32-2.

Brother Rice does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marist, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carmel at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
