Basketball Recap: Fernley Beats Spring Creek for Their Second Straight Win

Fernley won the last time they faced Spring Creek, and Taylor Tollestrup did her part to make sure it happened again. The Fernley Vaqueros came out on top against the Spring Creek Spartans by a score of 50-37 on Saturday thanks in part to Tollestrup, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Jaelece Wasson, who posted nine points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Youngblood, who earned 16 points. Jade Buzzetti was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Fernley and bumps their season record up to 18-5. As for Spring Creek, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fernley will host Lowry at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spring Creek, they will welcome Elko at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
