Football Recap: Thompson Valley's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Thompson Valley dropped down to 7-2 on Thursday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 34-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roosevelt Roughriders. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 11.33 points allowed.

Thompson Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brayden Wall, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Finley Lucas, who threw for 165 yards and two TDs. Wall showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 59 yards. Thompson Valley also got a significant boost from Karter Christiansen, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.2 points over those games.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Milo Pascual and Ryder Tymkowych. Pascual rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns while Tymkowych rushed for 137 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Pascual has become a key player for Roosevelt: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Thompson Valley will square off against rival Pomona at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 11.3, the Panthers 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Roosevelt is set to face off against their familiar foe Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th.
