Basketball Recap: Weston Ranch Piles Up the Points Against Chavez

Weston Ranch's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Chavez Titans 86-39. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Darrion Lilly was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Jerimyah Owens was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight boards.

Weston Ranch was working as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Weston Ranch pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.8 points. As for Chavez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Weston Ranch Cougars take on the Tokay Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tokay has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Chavez, they will face off against Stagg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chavez is facing Stagg at the right time seeing as Stagg is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
